Double News Post: EA Lawsuit and Gardening Mama

Ok, so let's start this double news post with some more exciting news on the whole Digital Rights Management (DRM) story I posted about Spore a few weeks back. It seems that more than just some gamers are upset about the SecuROM copyright protection used on EA's Spore. According to Shacknews, now the lawyers are involved. Their claim? They say that the people who buy Spore aren't properly notified in the games Terms and Agreements section that SecuROM will be automatically installed on their computer with the game, and that they have no control over this. Even worse, if Spore is uninstalled, SecuROM stays behind on the person's hard drive. That's crap. Unfortunately, according to 1UP, Crysis: Warhead and Mass Effect 3 use SecuROM as well. The lawsuit is for actual damages to peoples computers from SecuROM, and honestly, I think they'll win. But, I don't think that will stop EA from using SecuROM again in the future.

Now, to the second half of the news. Taito has recently confirmed their new game, Gardening Mama, will be released for the DS this winter in Japan. Just like Cooking Mama, Gardening Mama will use a variety of different strokes, pokes and jabs on the DS touch screen to create and manage the perfect garden. Considering I hated Cooking Mama, I'm not looking forward to this game. For those of you who are, however, you'll probably have to wait long after Christmas before its North American release.
