Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 - Xbox 360 Review

Hello readers, this is Brandon. Its time for another video game review. Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 for the Xbox360. Enjoy!

Story- Lego Harry Potter spans over the first four years of Harry Potters journey to Hogwarts. Almost every detail is direct from the Harry Potter feature films. Now although the characters in all " Lego " games do not have voice actors, they use comedy which replaces the voices. Without the comedy in this game I don't think the story would hold up as well as you might think. Each year follows the series of events during Harry Potters life at Hogwarts. You visit many familiar areas, that is if your a Harry Potter fan. You Battle Lord Voldemort, you visit the Chamber of Secrets, Rescue your God-Father, and Battle for the Tri-Wizard Cup. I advise you have haven't already, watch the Harry Potter movies, or read the books. If you love Lego and that's why your interested in the game, you may be confused as to whats going on. I think the four years were presented well, stayed on track, and gave the fans and players a great adventure worth playing. Following the first four movies I think " Travellers Tale " did a great job, 9/10.

Gameplay- The mechanics used for this game are the same as all Lego games we've played before. So you can see why the game could be boring and not worth playing. However, Travellers Tale, gave the players a little more of a fresh start to this Lego game. You are able to use different magical curses and spells, this gives a nice fresh, but small new addition to the Lego games world. If your looking for action, and intense fighting like in one of the " Lego Star Wars " games, you wont find that here. Lego Harry Potter has its times of action and boss battles, but the game focuses more around puzzle solving. Playing the game through once was fun, but if you want to unlock everything, such as secret areas, a character ( with over 200 playable ), or get Achievement/Trophies you'll have to play it more then once. Going through the second time is not as fun as the first time, but its not boring and you wont feel like you want to just give up. I have to say I didn't really like the magic wheel system, choosing your spells. Because at times Id have one spell out for a certain task then having an enemies attack me which prevented me from both completing a task and preventing me from changing my spell to attack. As well, at times the camera would be in a poor position where it made it difficult to do something. Not very noticeable but was a pain at times. Over all the gameplay has grown and stayed the same, 7/10.

Graphics- The graphics are nothing special. Lego Harry Potter is the best looking of all Lego games so far, hands down. But its nothing that makes you say " Wow, it feels like I'm at Hogwarts! ". Although I have to say, the scenery was well done. Everything looked and felt like it was straight from one of the movies. The animations for the game were quite humorous. They really held the game together. I encountered some glitching threw out my play, such as hair into capes, hair into the Christmas hat and minor things in the cut scenes. It didn't effect my play of the game, but it was noticeable. Overall the gameplay is nothing special, but it has its moments, 7/10.

Controls- Now, the controls are fairly simple. Anyone can pick up the controller and get right into the game. Everything is easy to use, move around objects, and do the objective ask of you at the time. The use of spells is very easy. Selecting the spell on the wheel, holding down x or b / square or circle for " PS3 " and casting your spell. I didn't find really anything wrong or difficult with the controls. They felt natural and easy. If your familiar with Lego games then you may feel like its repetitive, which for myself felt a little bit that way. It wasn't a pain, but it felt familiar. The controls are solid, 9/10.

Sound- Having said that somethings don't make you feel like your at Hogwarts, the sound delivers in that area. The sound effects for spells, characters moaning, all the minor sounds are great. They sound like a spell being thrown at an object or another character. Nothing seems to be out of place, it all fits nicely. I have to say I really enjoyed the music in the background. At times it may seems repetitive, but it doesn't bother you. I was really happy to hear the theme music to the Harry Potter movies. It made my time in the game more enjoyable and put the feel of Harry Potter into my head. The sounds and music in this game really pull the world of Harry Potter into the Lego world and gives it a very unique and great feel, 9/10.

Value- Combining Lego with the world and story of Harry Potter was a fantastic idea. The game is not perfect, but its one of the best among the Lego video games out there today. It was replay value to everyone, for those who enjoyed the story, the hardcore gamers trying to get every little thing in the game and to younger kids who enjoy Lego and or Harry Potter.
There are minor details that make this game feel like its just another Lego game, but at the same time brings a fresh new look upon itself. If your not fully sure on what you think of this game I recommend you rent it. If you love Lego, Harry Potter, or both, I recommend you pick up a copy today. Its a great fun filled adventure, with puzzles and some action for the whole family. This game is ment for all ages, weather your a kid laughing at the Lego people, or an teen/adult with the love for Lego, Harry Potter and puzzles. This game is solid overall, 7/10.

Overall- As I said before this game is ment for all ages. If your still unsure after reading this review, I suggest renting it and giving it a whirl. It has its minor issues here and there, but nothing huge to really effect your time playing the game. It brings comedy, puzzles, action, adventure and fun all into one. This game was enjoyable to play and go threw re-living the movies and books as Lego characters, 8/10.

Transformers: War for Cybertron - Xbox 360 Review

Hello readers of Rewound Entertainment! This is Brandon with the review for " Transformers: War for Cybertron " for the Xbox 360. I am a huge Transformers fan and I thought it was only right to do a review on the new video game. So enjoy!

Story- Transformers: War for Cybertron offers two different campaigns to play through. Both the evil Decepticons and the Autobots. This storyline is the official canon to the original G1 or Generation One cartoon. You learn of how StarScream becomes a Deception, the relation between Megatron and Jetfire, how Bumblebee and Optimus become a fighting team, and how Optimus becomes Optimus Prime- the leader of the Autobots. Without giving the whole plot away the basic story is Megatron is out to take over Cybertron with any means necessary. Both campaigns offer a challenge, but I found the Deceptions campaign was a little less stressful over all. The story also offers a multi-player mode which is very fun to play with friends, and that includes all the other different modes. The story is very original and brings a new page in the history books for the Transformers. Although I wish it was a little longer it was still well done and not rushed. Overall the story is a strong 9/10 .

Gameplay- The gameplay for Transformers: War for Cybertron has a very unique style to it. With being a futuristic game and the history of Transformers the creators really had a lot to work with. The use of there full imagination. All the visuals done are very robotic, futuristic, and really gives the feel that your on this robotic planet. You play in various levels with this robotic feel, but at times it almost seems repetitive. You have to take into account that this planet is completely covered in metal. But it would have been nice to see a change. Such as different door opening effects, brighter environments, and different transformers enemies. Having said that I was very impressed with a lot of Transformers originality, such as Soundwave sounding like Soundwave, Soundwave having his mini-cons, lines used in the original cartoon and original cartoon movie, and giving each character there own original look. There were times while I was playing I encountered glitching into the wall and some polygons looked a little off or odd, but it was very unnoticeable and did not effect my feelings towards the game. The game play is a 8/10 .

Graphics- As I said about before encountering minor glitches and polygons here and there, I didnt really notice anything eles wrong with the game. I felt like I was on Cybertron, you really get the feel for the futuristic, outer space and robotic planet. The graphics have a unique style to it. I think it stays true to what the real Transformers are. The colors used for the characters was a big factor in the game- not changing them or making the character different so we wouldn't look at them and say " who's that ? " . I didnt really notice anything wrong with the graphics. There not over the line stellar, but a lot better then some games coming out these days. I really liked the transformations- very unique, looked great, and not re-cycled except for StarScream/ ThunderCracker/ SkyWarp, but they were all the same in the original cartoon, so thats understandable. I was very pleased overall with the graphics. Grapgics 8/10 .

Controls- The controls are fairly simple and easy to pick up and play. At first it may seem over whelming but are really not at all. Picking up the controller and playing around with the buttons I found myself destroying Decepticons with ease. I was extremely happy with the fact I didnt have to hold a button to transform. I pressed the analog stick or ( R3 ) and was on my way in which ever form. I could not find any issues with the controls, it was satisfying, easy and fun. Controls a perfect 10/10 .

Sound- There are various sounds in the game which make you feel like your a part of the Transformers universe. The sounds for the Transformers them selfs and other sound effects were great, a technological feeling to them. You dont feel like your continuously hearing the same sounds. The Voice acting was powerful and brought the feeling like the characters had there emotions and unique parts, exactly like in the original cartoons. For example, Bumblebee the small and weak rebel always wanting to go straight on. Optimus Prime the brave leader but always seems to take the most complex of routes. Megatron the evil villan wanting to take over Cybertron with no fear. And Starscream always wanting to fight with no plan of action. The music for the video game I felt was bland. At times the music really fit into place and had you sitting on thy edge of your seat. Other times it was boring and made you feel like it was boring. All in all the sounds for this game were presented nicely 8/10 .

Value- This game offers a great edition to the Transformers universe and a great spot on your shelf. The campaign mode is fun to play and learn more about the story of the Transformers and not to mention fun to play with a friend or 2. The online multi-player is great as well, fighting against other people, and leveling up. There is also an mode called " Escalation " where you have to fight off waves of robots with a team- its a lot of fun! This is a great game to buy and I recommend getting it if your a Transformers fan or not. 9/10 .

Overall- Transformers: War for Cybertron is a great game and really puts you in the Transformers world. This game is like a robot version of " Gears of war " . Personally I think its the best Transformers game yet. Its very fun to play, especially with friends online, including the multi-player. Overall the games a 9/10 .

Thanks for reading the review for Transformers: War for Cybertron. Be sure to check back with news updates, more video game reviews and more!

Star Wars: The Old Republic PC Trailer

One of the best cinematic trailers at E3 today came in the form of "Star Wars: The Old Republic".

With beautiful visuals and what looks like the possibility of promising gameplay, this "hope" trailer is sure to wow anyone who watches it.

Don't forget to keep checking back here for more E3 related content right through until Friday. And, of course, don't miss the Nintendo and Sony conferences tomorrow at 9:00am PT and 12:00pm PT respectively.

E3 2010 - The EA Conference

I never thought the EA conference would be so exciting and I certainly didn't think it would be better than Microsoft's, but it was.

Focusing on actual traditional gaming and showcasing true gameplay, EA's conference left me blown away and there was really nothing dull about the experience.

At the top of the show, a trailer for "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit" was revealed, followed by live gameplay footage. A franchise thought to be pretty much dead is being revived by EA and will go back to its roots with racer/cop gameplay. It looks fun and will certainly excite Need for Speed fans.

"Dead Space 2", the official sequel to the original, was shown to an excited crowd and the gameplay and graphics look stunning and terrifying. That's just how it should be. It is set for release on Jan. 25.

The new "Medal of Honor" game was shown next and became one of the best moments of the conference when a 24 person live gameplay took place. This next entry in the series, the first set in Afghanistan, will be released on Oct. 12, while the multiplayer beta version will be launched June 21 for Xbox360, PS3 and PC.

A bit of a boring stretch followed those three big games. Next on the lineup was "Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam", an expansion pack for the Xbox360 and PC, to be released this winter.

That was followed by "MMA", a fighting game based on mixed martial arts. Announced in conjunction with "MMA" was EA Sports' "Live Broadcast", which will allow players of the game to customize their fighter and take part in fights to win real-life prizes. Seemed interesting enough, but it is definitely something strictly for MMA fans.

Yet another fitness game was revelaed. "Active 2" will be available for Xbox's Kinect on Nov. 16.

NFL legend Joe Montana was brought out to help introduce "Madden NFL 11". It is being described as a game changer, quite literally, for the series with the option to create full game plans. It is set for release in August.

"Sims 3" and "Crysis 2" were shown next. Nothing too special here, both were pretty well expected, and both will be released this holiday season.

"Bulletstorm", by Epic Games, was given gameplay treatment. Besides the overuse of the word "sh*t", it looks kind of fun. But who knows, among all the other great shooters coming out, it could turn out to be the expletive it loves to use so much. Get ready for it on Feb. 11, 2011.

Finally, some more footage from "Star Wars: The Old Republic" was shown and, like the Star Wars game shown at Microsoft's Conference, this game looks awesome, especially if you're into MMO's.

EA had a top-notch conference and exceeded expectations. With such great upcoming releases, gaming fans have a lot to look forward to.

-Brian Russell

So Far, So Bad

Just a quick update on Microsoft's E3 conference now that it has ended:

1) As predicted, Kinect was the central focus of the showcase.

2) Unfortunately, nothing impressive came out of Kinect (except for, maybe, the Star Wars game).

3) There was no more than a few minutes of actual controller gaming.

4) REALITY DOES NOT EQUAL VIDEO GAMES, MICROSOFT!

5) The new, slimmer Xbox360 looks like it has a crease in it. Also, an extra 130 GB is nothing special, neither is announcing it's release for this week.

So far, I'm unimpressed. Hopefully the other conferences can top this.

E3 Starts Today

"Project Natal" Becomes Kinect

Microsoft's motion-sensing system, originally given the title "Project Natal" one year ago, has been given an official name: Kinect.

The announcement was made last night at an event in Los Angeles that featured the circus company Cirque du Soleil.

The event was also a precursor to Microsoft's showcase at E3 later this morning.

According to an article on Gamespot.com, Xbox 360 product management director Aaron Greenberg stated that "Sunday is about entertainment, Monday['s E3 conference] is about information."

That could either mean that Microsoft has a lot of great things to inform the public about, or that they simply don't have much of an interesting showcase this year.

One thing is certain, though. Kinect will likely be the biggest focus at Microsoft's conference.

They just have to compete with Nintendo, of course.

Video Game Journalism is Flawed

[Hamamura in the controversial MSG: Peace Walker ad]

In light of the recent Famitsu/Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker controversy that is making news, I think now is as good a time as any to say this: video game journalism is terribly flawed.

For those who don't know, Famitsu, one of the top gaming magazines in Japan, recently gave the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker a perfect score of 40 out of 40.

The controversy comes from the fact that the magazine publisher's president, Hirokazu Hamamura, can be seen in some of the games promotional ads and representations of the magazine itself are apparently scattered throughout the game.

Popular gaming blog Kotaku has called Famitsu out on this issue and because of that, Kotaku's passes to the MGS: Peace Walker launch party have been revoked by Konami.

What a peculiar series of events, wouldn't you say?

Now, there is no evidence that Famitsu has any hidden dealings with the game's creators, but it does seem like this perfect score has been bought.

Money talks in many industries, but it should not in journalism, no matter what form of journalism it is.

But because video game journalism is growing at such a fast pace, it's not completely surprising that something like this happened, just disappointing.

Since there is no evidence of Famitsu being paid to give the perfect score, I will not assume the claims are true, however, if it is discovered that such a incident did occur, Famitsu will need to be seriously reworked.

For starters, Mr. Hamamura would need to be chucked out immediately.

Score buy-out or not, Hamamura should not have appeared in the ads in the first place.

It is a conflict of interest and the rules for traditional journalists should apply to all other fields of journalism.

A member of 1UP.com, who goes by the username Abriael, pointed out an interesting fact in a comment he made on the site.

He said "I actually have another nail for the coffin :D

There's absolutely no full disclosure about any tie-in on Kotaku's very positive review of WarioWare: D.I.Y. None that would even slightly hint to any promotional deal between the site and Nintendo.

But surprise, surprise! A few days later Kotaku announced the fabulous contest Master WarioWare: D.I.Y., Make Us a Game, Win a HUGE Prize, prompting readers to create a Kotaku-themed minigame using the Nintendo's little platform, and offering "HUGE prizes" sponsorized by... Nintendo.

I rest my case :D"

What this person failed to note was that Kotaku does not review games on a number or grade scale, but rather uses good old fashioned words to get their point across.

So, while Kotaku certainly has had contests that revolve around WarioWare: D.I.Y., their initial review strongly pointed out the games negatives and was not simply holding it up on a golden pedestal and giving it a perfect score.

Also, the issue with Famitsu is not contest related, but information related.

If the information Famitsu is giving the public is tainted by undisclosed money, then the magazine becomes completely unreliable.

As can be quickly understood by Abriael's ridiculous use of smiley faces in his comment, he clearly has little understanding of what's going on and therefore should keep his opinions to himself.

But let me stop there before this turns into a complete bashing of one person's thoughts.

Ultimately, Famitsu has some explaining to do.

The game could very well be deserving of the perfect score, but the circumstances that surround that score are uncannily suspicious.

It bothers me when I see lying in journalism and because video game journalism is a personal interest of mine, it bothers me even more.

Kotaku should get their passes back and Famitsu should be investigated, plain and simple.

And let it be known, video game journalism has some wrinkles it needs to iron out.

Wii Sales Drop

Nintendo has recently announced that they earned a total of $772 million dollars US for the first fiscal year of sales (April-September). This is a big difference from last years earnings of $1.59 billion dollars US. It seems Nintendo is seeing the end of the major demand for the Wii. For six years, Nintendo topped the chart of console sales, but we might be seeing a very different statistic come Christmas. Maybe Microsoft will take the lead? Either way, the Wii is not dead, it's just aging. Price cuts and the possibility of Netflix on Wii means Nintendo will still hold a place in gamers hearts for a little while longer.

Security Leads to a "Balanced" Lifestyle

According to Yahoo! Games, the Department of Homeland Security (United States) is looking into using the Wii Balance Board as a screening technique to test for fidgety people. The board will be modified, of course, but this is an interesting development for the gaming industry. If Nintendo has a market in a country's security, then the skies the limit for what gaming companies can do. The modified board is being tested to be able to read not only movements, but heart rate, breathing, and body temperature. If this actually happens, it will be the beginning of an exciting era for technology.

Need For Speed:Shift - Xbox 360 Video Game Review

Hello super nerd, level. 56 magical wizards and others... Its me! Brandon B. A.k.a. Vintagebro (c) With another video game review on the request of Brian because we need more posts and what not. So here it is ,a video game review that does not really have a storyline and well its a driving game! The review for " Need for Speed: Shift " . Enjoy.

Story- So as I said before there is no real story, so I'm going to discuss the main objective of the game. You start out with some random English accented guy telling you about making it to the " Need for Speed World Tour " Which is were the best cars race and if you beat that you win the game. There at 4 tears and then the final tour. Inside these tears there are numerous different types of racing you can take part in. From your basic time trials, to a circuit and drifting. All very fun to take part in. When you first start off you get to use a manufacture car and gain money to buy your own car. This game also includes a level up system that allows you to achieve new things as you progress. The two ways you can level up are, getting aggression points and precision points. Aggression is were you crash into the opponents , do burnouts , road rage pretty much. Precision can range from cleanly passing an opponent, staying on the track or following the markers. Know matter what, every time you race you win gain points that will level you up. When you level up you win different things that can help you on your way such as more money, new car parts, or invitation races. You can also win new paint, vinyls , ect... For all of this coming together and having a solid new type of race system , I'm going to give the main campaign a 9/10 .

Gameplay- The gameplay its self is amazing. You really get the feel like you are in the car racing! When I first started playing racing games I never really liked the idea of being in my car, I liked seeing my car and its always how I grew up with car games. When I played Shift, I loved it and I could not go back to how I use to love it. It gives the feeling like your really gear shifting, controlling the car, using brakes, backing up slowly like a real car would. Everything is perfectly put together. All the cars have there very own interior, including gadges, roll bars, stearing wheels, everything is different which makes the game all the better. Although having said all this there are a few little glitches here and there. One time while I was racing in a drift event it said " GO " but it gave me no points while I was doing drifts and for that matter it didnt even have any of the menu bars on the screen. A few times my car glitched into the wall, but it was not very noticeable. With all of this being said the game play is going to get a 9/10.

Graphics-
Like I said before with the gameplay, this game really feels like your driving the car. That includes the awesome and stylish looks to the cars and every detail on them. Theres not much to say about the graphics because in my mind there and very well done and it dose not looked rushed at all. The backdrops have there little looks to them as well, not as much detail but still very nice. There are quite a few tracks each having there own look to them including day time like qualities, dusk and the dark night. Every thing looks very crisp and stands out. It is another reason this game gives the vibe like you are in a real race. Although like I said before there are a few times were I noticed some rough looking pillars, or some odd tree's, but none the less it all looks very well done. A solid 9/10 is going to take it again.

Controls- The controls in this game are pretty decent. The reason I say decent is, because there not perfect. Picking up the controller and playing the game are easy, your simple gas button, E-brake and brake. For pretty much every car in tear 1-3 are very easy to handle. In tear 4 and the " Tour " all the cars are insanely hard to handle. At times I would'ent no when to slow down because of how fast the car was going. Having said that purchesing the fastest car with perfect handling and I still slid into the wall and dirt. Its so hard to turn with the faster cars even with perfect handling and braking. The drift cars, no matter what tear your in are hard to handle, just a slight movement to hard you going to do a 180 and hurt your run. Slight movement to light and your not going to drift. You have to hit it perfectly almost every time. Im going to have to give the controls a 6/10.

Sound- The sounds in this game are very well done. The screaching of the tires, the roaring of the engine, every sound is like a real car. Its almost enjoyable just to drive around listing to all the different sounds put together to make one big sound while your driving. Now sadly there is no menu or in game music. I think its a great idea not to have it while your driving, it gives the game the edge like your really racing, and you get to hear all the cool sounds without music, so thats a good idea. As for the menu, I wish they had some music, I mean a hear little tiny sounds, and the sounds when you click a button, but thats it. Its very boring and very life like. It would be a great idea to add an update for a custom add music yourself idea. There are no real bad terrible negatives to the sounds. The sound gets an amazing 8/10.

Value- This game is worth buying. The main campaign is a little short unless you do every single little thing, but its fun to buy all the different cars, pimp them out and level up getting new items to add to your car. There are some negative aspects to this game, but not enough to say its a bad game to buy. If you dont trust me then for sure go out and rent it to try it out for yourself. For what its worth Im going to say a 8/10

Overall- Overall this game like I said, is worth buying. If not buying its worth your time to go out and rent it. Even if your not a racing fan I think this game is for everyone. Everything that makes this game a good game is worth checking out. The effect that realism is put into this game makes it good. The feel like you are in control of the car, changing gears, using the brake, its just like playing a racing game you have played before again, but now its one hundred times better. Go check it out! This game is very fun to play with friends as well, online that is. Anyways this game is going to get a nice 8/10.

Hope you have enjoyed my review. For more information and reviews hop on over to our main page or visit us on "Twitter" and "Facebook".

Scribblenauts Surprise!

Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell has posted an intriguing new comment on the game's Facebook page that teases of an upcoming announcement that they say will be "very special". This is an interesting update because it comes so soon off the heels of the game's release less than one week ago. A lot of fans are nursing the possibility that some downloadable content could be on its way, while others are thinking a port of the game may be in store for another platform. It's hard to say just what 5th Cell has in store for us, but I really don't see it being anything too "amazing". What do you think? Leave a comment to let us know!

Scribblenauts is a Dictionary

Someone, somewhere, has managed to get their hands on an early, ie. hacked, version of Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS. The game that claims to make anything you write on your screen appear, seems to be telling the truth. The lucky "hacker" has compiled a list of all the words the game will recognize. Keep in mind this list may not be complete, or even true for that matter, so read on in warning. I'll give the link below, but if you don't want to know everything you can do in the game, then here are just a few examples.

- Almond Oil
- Bayberry
- Outlet Mall
- Pallbearer
- Tartar Sauce
- Zoopraxiscope (an early motion picture displayer from 1879)

Pretty amazing, right? If those things alone don't want to make you pick up a copy of Scribblenauts, then you must be crazy. Or dead. Anyways, this game looks to be one of the best Nintendo DS games ever made. Hopefully this list isn't all a hoax. Click below for the complete list.

Sega Supports Motion Control

Sega West president Mike Hayes has revealed that Sega should be ready to reveal software for Microsoft's Natal and Sony's PS3 motion controller platforms by early 2010. He stated that, "We have our ideas and we know what we want to do, but the technology is pretty new, particularly with Natal, so we've got to get to grips with the technology and see if it can do what we want it to do...". If none of this technology sounds familiar, that's probably because it hasn't been getting much support since its unveiling at E3 this year. Natal and PS3 motion control are pretty much Microsoft and Sony's answer to the Wii. Unfortunately, it looks like the Wii's motion control technology is much more popular among developers.

EA Drops NASCAR

EA's NASCAR game franchise has now officially been put on hold this year, with little chance that its current yearly trend will continue. EA Sports president Peter Moore stated in an interview with GameSpot: "[We're] still a huge fan of NASCAR, but no plans right now to develop any further games for NASCAR from EA Sports". It looks like the NASCAR license will have to go elsewhere and find a company willing to put more games in development, or just wait out the hiatus. Until that happens, NASCAR fans will have to live with what they already have.

Disney and Marvel, Sitting in a Tree

Well, if you think you've seen it all from the entertainment industry, then get ready to change your outlook on that topic. Disney has recently acquired the rights to Marvel for a whopping $4 billion dollars. Two huge licenses are now part of the same company, a match that is seemingly bizarre and unexpected. There could be some potentially interesting new material to come out of this little merge (Marvel Hearts, anyone?), but don't expect anything too soon. Kotaku reports that Disney won't be making any big moves just yet. Still, this is some of the most intriguing news in a while.

EyePet Almost Set

Sony's EyePet, revealed at last years GamesCon, has been given a release date of November 17th of this year. The EyePet is definitely one of the more original things I've seen this year, but it is still unknown as to how much fun it can actually be. Is this the kind of product that will keep people entertained for a year, or a week? The trailer below seems to make it look like a blast, but again, that's the power of editing at work. I have to admit though, until it has actually been proven stupid or boring, I'm looking forward to it as I think many other gamers, most likely casual ones, are. EyePet will be $40 on its own, or $60 with the Playstation Eye.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Xbox360 Review

Hello my devoted nobodies, its me! Brandon a.k.a. Vintagebro (c)
Here I am with a review to one of the most anticipated comic book games yet! Here is my written review on Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Story- The story kicks off as you, Batman, have re-captured the Joker and are now taking him back to Arkham Asylum. Once you get there you begin to meet some of the classic characters and some new. As returning the Joker to his cell he brakes free and with the help of his army of evil have locked Arkham down. No one gets in, no one gets out. From this point you find your self trying out the new fighting style combat mode in fighting prisoners from Blackgate, which is another prison where they have been trasfered due to a tragic fire * wink wink * . From here out you need to figure out what the Joker's plan is and save Arkham. ( Dont want to give any spoilers )
Im giving the story a solid 8/10. Because they could have added more to it, and made it a little more interesting.

Gameplay- You feel like your the Dark Knight. Jumping, gliding from roof top to roof top, and all the other awesome gadgets Batman has in his arsenal. This game give a real feel, its the between real life and a video game. A few elements let you know its a game but otherwise besides that you feel like your in control planning out your next move to take down the bad guys. There are two main combat choices you get. The simple combat were you walk into a room and go to town on eight to 10 bad guys, sometimes more. The silent predator game mode. This is were you face about six bad guys and you must use the shadows to your advantage. From glide kicking an enemy, to hanging one off a gargoyle, which is always fun. Sometimes theres a few polygons going in your cape, but not very noticeable and only makes you a nit picker if you continue to just focus on his cape. The gameplay amazes me, it really shines and makes this game what it should be. 9/10

Graphics- From a Batman fan to another, I really like what they have done to this game. The buildings, the grass, towers everything really looks tastefully done and a tremendous amount of effort went into making this game. The stylish look to the main classic characters is also a favorite of mine, it has a man made look to it, like a real person could make it them self's. Scarecrow is my favorite villain. Everything is amazing, I mean I can just sum it all up in such a short summary because nothing is truly a bothersome to this game. A few times you make see some off textures, but what game does'nt have that. A nice 10/10 here, you cant really complain.

Controls- What can I say, the controls are really easy to pick up and play. I mean to an extent it gets tiresome trying to pick one of your items to use on the little wheel, but other then that its really simple. From your basic walk and run, your dodge, punch, kick, counter all very simple and self explanatory. Not much eles to say but 9/10 just for the trying to equip your items, they could have made it a tad easyer in my opinion.

Sound- Sound, a key to making a game. Now I can say the sound effects for items, objects and "POW!" "ZAP!" "BLAM!" Are all very nice, the really stand out and make more of a realistic feel to the game. The music has a Batman feel to it. It shines a music glow on the game, its intense when it needs to be and calm and eary when it needs to be. It really flows with the game and and just adds to the awesome experience of this new Batman game. The only problem I have with the sound is the lip sync and some not all the voice acting. The lips were off quite a bit and didnt really look right. Some of the voice acting was poor, but not for the main characters which I guess is better then the other way around. Such as some of the guards, doctors or Blackgate bad guys. They dont really seem to be in the moment. Batman, The Joker and all the other main classic characters really seem like that put there all into their parts. Im going to give the sound a 8/10.

Value- Well I can sum this all up in very short words. Buy this game. Buy it. Your have hours of fun, figuring out new ways to take down your enemies and fight bosses. Ive already played it once and now Im going to play it again on hard. Its worth it to buy this game no matter who you are or what game you like. 9/10

Overall- Like I just said this game is really worth it to buy. It brings a presence of crime solving to the element of just kick'in but. Everything really works together to make this game what it is, the animation, the story, the sounds and the controls just make this game perfect for anyone and everyone who loves batman. I have a few complaints but nothing to do with the game its self. Why not more main batman villans I mean this is arkham asylum where every single evil villain is, why not more. It could have been cool to maybe have some sort of multiplayer on the predator game mode. Otherwise this game is great. A nice 9/10 Overall.

Buy Nvidia, Get Batman

Nvidia will be offering a free PC copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum with the purchase of one of three graphics cards. If you buy the Nvidia GeForce GTX 260, GTX 275, or the GTX 285, you will obtain a coupon for a free download of the game. This is a great deal, especially for PC aficionados who don't quite have their computers up to graphical standards. This is also a great way for Nividia to sell their products and for Eidos, Arkham's publisher, to get their product in the hands of more gamers.
