Dragonball Evolution Review

Dragonball Evolution
Movie Review.
By: Brandon B. A.k.a. Vintagebro

Hello reader, its Brandon with a new review, I just had to do this review on one of my favorite classic tv shows as a young boy. Now that I have grown up I can expresses my emotions for the terrible movie. Im going to be very hard on this movie considering its reputation, and hope you enjoy my review.

Story:
Dragonball evolution starts out "Goku" the main protagonist training with Grandpa gohan, which is quite accurate for the time. The battle scene was very poorly done, crouching shadow blast, never heard of it, and looked terrible to preform. Later in the story we discover its Goku's birthday, and Grandpa Gohan gives Goku a dragonball, which then he goes on to explain a tale along time about about "Nammiks" and "Piccolo" which again is correct. Goku is a teenager, which is wrong, Goku in no way have much defenition to his body, which makes him look skinny and like a big dork. Back to the story, Goku leaves his home to go to "Chi-Chi's" party which then Piccolo comes and destory's Goku's home and grandpa Gohan dies. This could be accurate, not much in the anime was it really discussed how he dies. Goku must find all the dragonballs befor "lord" Piccolo finds them to destory the world. A tipical plan, get something , blow up the planet. The way the story goes its not looking very good. The action was very poorly done , which added a distasteful feel to the movie. Im giving the story a fat 3/10.

Writing:
As I explained in the story catagory, the movie aduptation is poorly done. The word play is terrible, the basic outline trying to re-create this awesome tv show is no where near as great. How some characters like "Bulma" and "Yamcha" some how almost dispise one another in the beginning of there meeting to not 10mins later there falling in love. Trying to cram a tv show that has so many saga's isnt such a great idea. Nothing seemed to blend well, everything seemed to just happen with little explenation. Writing I will give a 3 as well.

Acting:
What can I say that has not already been said. The main characters seem to try to fit as they anime versions, but at times seem almost stupid or imature. Goku remains to eat a lot no matter what it is, which is accurate. Goku also seems to be a " scardy cat" to be able to talk to girls, expand in the world and never smilies. Almost through the hole movie I think I saw him smile one or two times that's it. The fight scenes, dont get me started. The battles, the energy blasts all very well rendered are terrible, horrific if I dare go that far. Chi-Chi seems to be two sided, crazy happy sometimes, which in the anime shes always angry over something and then she becomes angry, like over the top " Im going to kill someone" angry. She seems to know everything, about Goku, Kai, fighting, and it all just seems to get thrown out there like we new this would happen. Bulma and Yamcha seem to be ok as depicted. Bulma is a bit of a disapointment because she seems more shot now ask questions later, and has less gadgets has hoped for, and no she has no blue hair, only a stripe. Yamcha, seems to be the same, although he has blonde hair, which I dont understand. Roshi and Piccolo. Roshi seems to always be happy, and almost dumb founded. He seems to be such a great trainer, yet when Goku turns into Ozaro the great ape she gets chocked and killed in one shot. Piccolo, hes always angry, nothing eles," Rawr do this, do that " and then in the end dies from a simple one punch, energy blast and some sort of flying Kame ha me ha. All the acting was so-so. To a little extent people remained the same, although more negative then positive.
Acting is getting a 2/10.

Style:
As much as they tryed to live up to creating a Dragonball adduptation they failed. Although I have to say they did remain true to Goku's costume, using some real dragonball moves and the characters names. I just dont think its worth all this wait and atisipation. Everything seemed rushed and low budget, like no one seemed to care if it was good or not. Im going to give the style a 4, only because it had more positive the bad. 4/10.

Overall:
Over all I think this movie has so many pitfalls I cant explain anymore. This movie could have been much more promising had someone took a little more time developing everything. The characters, the plot, the time, the setting. This movie is not worth your 10 dollars, if anything wait till it becomes a movie in the 3.99 bin. This movie is worth a 3/10 or 1 star out of 5.

Besure to read more of my reviews to come.
If you like dragonball or feel this is an inaccurate statement about this movie, this is only a review and an opinion, please dont be offended.
