E3 2009 - Nintendo Conference

So, what can I say about E3 this year? The words "yawn" and "inducing" come to mind. It definately wasn't as hyped up as last year, but there were a few cool things at each conference that are definately worth noting. So, to start off, let's look at the best Nintendo had to offer this year.

1) New Super Mario Bros. Wii - This actually looks like a lot of fun. The DS version of this game sold a massive amount of copies, so this move is a no-brainer. Cammie Dunaway, Executive Vice President of Marketing at Nintendo, mentioned that this is how Nintendo is bringing Mario into 4D. Umm, I'm not sure what she meant (maybe the fact that you can play the game with four people?), but I think she's crazy. New features for this version, including the totally awesome Propeller Suit, will surely make this game a big contender for the best game of the year.

2) Wii Fit Plus - Though not really exciting, it is kind of a neat addition to the Wii-titled game family. For people who never got a shot at the first Wii Fit, this is the perfect game for you. If you did, however, it's not worth your time. Trust me. It's pretty much a rehashing of the original with a few extras tacked on.

3) Wii Sports Resort & Wii MotionPlus - Now this should put everything into perspective for you. Wii Sports Resort & MotionPlus was shown as last years E3 Conference as well. What has Nintendo been doing that they have to showcase the same game twice?! Anyways, it's all looking great, but I'm curious about how well MotionPlus will survive amongst all the other big hits of this year.

4) Finally, I want to mention Super Mario Galaxy 2. Wait a minute...ANOTHER REMAKE/SEQUEL!!! Oh Nintendo, you've truly upset me this year. I guess I can look beyond your many mistakes and simply say that, although practically the same game, it does look much more enhanced than the last and it looks like it could be a lot of fun. If you can look past this games "been there, done that" gameplay, I'm sure it will all be okay. Still I'm totally :( about Nintendo's Conference.

I wish I could say this conference was great, but really, it was disappointing. Hopefully next year Nintendo will hit the scene with a huge smash and totally take over E3. Until then, it looks like another very Mario year for us.
